"Rose" out now!
It may be hard to believe but a Boomer can get along and write music with Gen-xers, Millennials & Gen Z. A love of jazz brought most of us together and we just had to sprinkle in a spunky punk bassist. Getting real in the writers room has been a transformative collaborative experience for all of us.
Playtonics began in 2018 after a summer filled with farmer's market gigs playing jazz, rock & some originals. Washington state based singer-songwriter Paige Hansen invited her very favorite musicians over to her home to jam & write music with the idea of collaborative songwriting. The band’s very first tune “Big World” came from the meeting. From there a few members were added and the 5 piece jazzy soul pop band “Playtonics” was born. They’ve become dear friends who strive to unpack and get to the bottom of universal thoughts and concerns of love & life in their music. Since 4 out of 5 come from jazz backgrounds the tunes have a unique style and movement.
Playtonics is Tom Hume (drums/vocals:) the wild one – a wild card – he’s been wildly experimental while crafting the rhythms on these original tunes, Paige Hansen (keys/lead vocals:) the fearless one – addicted to collaborative creation. Denny Foreman (guitar/vocals:) the wise one – enjoys the term delusional archivist. He’s lived half his life in Chicago & half in Seattle. Brady McCowan (sax/vocals:) the mysterious one – hailing from the East Coast. Brady is a force of chaos & exploration on multiple instruments, mostly saxophone and drums. Danielle Westbrook (trumpet/vocals) the cool one - Danielle jumps right in either on trumpet, flugelhorn or mature sensual vocals to elevate the jazz vibes. Stephanie Jones (bass/vocals:) the spitfire – is as soft-hearted as she is incisive – her tattoos are cooler than yours. She would gladly take up arms for close friends then turn around & concoct a gourmet vegan feast for the survivors.
Ashish Meloottu on trombone and percussion brings the low notes and vibes. Singer/Songwriter Jade Monroe boots with backing vocals and percussion. You'll also find bassist Richard Williams and John Studamire, the groove ones and Sax and Vocal legend Maureese Itson joining the group whenever we can get 'em!
